Abstract Submission
• In keeping with MEEC tradition, posters and oral presentations are limited to students—undergraduate and graduate. Faculty and post-docs are encouraged to attend in support of the students.
• The deadline for Abstract Submission is February 15, 2010. To submit your abstract please use the online abstract submission form. Late abstracts will be reviewed on a first come, first serve basis, contingent on program availability.
• Abstracts are limited to a maximum of 250 words.
• Oral presentations are especially encouraged.
Competitive Selection
All abstracts submitted to the 2009 Midwest Ecology and Evolution Conference (MEEC) will be peer-reviewed and unacceptable abstracts will not be accepted without sufficient revision. Abstracts will be reviewed based on research completeness and clarity of communication.
Oral Presentation Guidelines
• Speakers are allowed 12 minutes for presentations.
• Please be in your scheduled room 10 minutes prior to the start of the session to meet with the moderator and upload your presentation.
• Between talks there will be a 3 minute period for questions, discussion, and introduction of the next speaker. This 3 minute period belongs to the audience, not to the speaker, and is managed by the session moderators. Time limits will be strictly enforced by session moderators.
• Microsoft PowerPoint (.ppt or .pptx) is the only acceptable audiovisual formats. Electronic files must be submitted via a CD or USB drive. Furthermore, speakers must use the provided desktop computer (Microsoft Windows operating system) and LCD projector for any audio-visual component of their presentation.
Poster Presentation Guidelines
• Maximum dimensions for poster display panels are 5-ft wide by 3-ft long (152-cm-x-92-cm). .
• Poster presenters will be assigned to a single poster session organized by topic.
• Push pins will be provided on site for each poster session.
